I had been operating under the assumption that all of these guys were kaput because i NEVER watered them. That was until i watched a lecture by lithops expert Jane Evans (its on Youtube, check it out.) So ive been lightly watering once a week (the soil is 75% inorganic.) I didn’t know what else to do but i certainly wasn’t going to throw them out. Just thought I would keep watering and start from scratch next spring. Low and behold Big Guy popped him out a flower this week! And now i just carry my plant with me wherever

I already have a name picked out for the Lithops Living Stone. I am going to name it Tank after my late doggo baby, so his memory will live on forever (or until the plant dies). I didn't realize at first but the order is going to be delivered on the 3rd anniversary of his death. 🥺🥺

Can you spy the seedlings? They're actually quite numerous! I added another pot of Lithops dorotheae seedlings as a comparison to highlight germination levels (Image 4).These are F1 hybrids of my own creation, a cross of Lithops aucampiae subsp. euniceae and what I believe is Lithops salicola (images 5 and 6 respectively). Excited to see how they turn out, or see if I've just selfed the parents.by KiwiFella07
The best advice I’ve seen about lithops: “When you think they need water, don’t water them. The next time you think about watering them, don’t. Maybe on the third time, a drop or two. When they look like wrinkly mini brains, then water a few drops. They like to be scary dry.”
