An interesting recent musical discovery, Dhafer Youssef, a jazz fusion musician and composer. The track ‘39th Gülay (To Istanbul)’ has an obvious appeal and meaningfulness for me. Ultimately Youssef came to Istanbul from the small Maghrebian town of Teboulba (🇹🇳).

As a person who 1) loves Maghrebian/French fusion food and 2) sees spoonerisms everywhere, I can't see the phrase "time machine" without thinking "you know, a mime tagine could be quite tasty"

For context: I didn't do anything special to my hair, it's just how it grows. Many Northern-African people would have it like me too, but maghrebian hair culture has been absolutely fucked up by French colonial occupation, so my hair is often seen as "unkempt" from people of my own culture.
