In time for Halloween this year, not one, not two, but THREE stories in the Motherwell Trilogy co-written with one of the unique and wonderful minds behind a lot of Hopeless Maine, Nimue Brown. Book 1 is 99p, which, frankly, is almost free. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DJ9H3YTY#ebooks#horror#bargain

fuck you Aaron. Im sick of all these pricks who cover Maine politics from away and its just a fluff piece for the DNC. Im all for voting Harris but do you have to lie about the party and what they do? The party of real estate? Again fuck off Aaron and get a real job.

A #poem I wrote yesterday: “I’m Never Leaving Maine.” 🍁

“I’m Never Leaving Maine”

It was late Tuesday evening when we’d crossed the state line
And I took a picture of the sign that read, “Welcome Home”.
Four thousand miles we drove,
From the steaming Florida heat
Over Appalachia, across all the Great Plains,
All the way to the foot of the Rockies,
Just to find you
And bring us both to freedom.

Now I can walk through old town streets
Under red brick buildings and the autumn leaves
Past old cafes and bookshops adorned with Pride flags,
Across the peaceful Kennebec river, watching ducks and cormorants dip into the water,
And into the woods, somehow, still surviving.
There is magic here
From the spirits of the forest
And the souls of the Abenaki.
Even after 500 years of war and genocide
Even as the wonder of the world falls before our shiny metal gods,
I can still feel it.

A big golden poodle runs up to me from the river bank,
I think of you
And whisper,
“This is the way life should be.”
View of the Kennebec river, surrounded by trees

Day 1 (if you don't count planes yesterday) of Work Trip to Commune with Foghorns and Ghosts. Up early for a car to pick me up for the 2-hour drive up the coast, where "a man named John and his dog" will meet me at a (the?) dock.

Image of the sunrise outside my hotel window in Portland, Maine. There are several pink clouds, some streaky and some fluffy. The sky is orange and blue and there is a small container ship in the blue-grey water.
