JD Vance shows he’s able to memorize talking points and follow debate prep unlike his running mate. It’s all BS of course but Vance is scary bc of his ability to look like Classic Coke Republican
oh no they made him memorize paragraphs
Latin is never irregular? (In sing-song voice): “Senex, pater, also mater, canis, juvenis, and frater” are the “Crazy Family” of irregularly declined Latin nouns. Had to memorize that in Father Hocking’s Latin class in 1966. FINALLY got to use it!!!
you leave your eyes there for me to memorize i can see you happy in the shadows i despise
in terms of fighting game archetype idk, I just designed him to make you mad while playing him (see attached image). in the story he tricks Candrin into a rigged deal that separates him and Wolf into separate bodies, dooming them both. If the game ever happens, that's the catalyst for the plot
I hindsight I do not regret not only having to read entire books, but often memorize entire passages (in 6th grade no less. Voltaire, anyone?) Also learning Latin (which has been more useful to me in every day life than I ever imagined). Additional languages every two years starting in 4th grade 🥲
Recently, I tweeted about how in 90s/00s it was common to be assigned a book to read in 1 or 2 weeks. Many younger people replied they'd NEVER been assigned that much reading even while getting graduate degrees. Others said they hadn't been assigned entire books AT ALL in h.s....only excerpts.
To read a book in college, it helps to have read a book in high school.
German and Icelandic often have different genders for the same noun so in order to memorize them without interference I have to visualize, e.g., a guy in Bavarian Oktoberfest getup copiloting a helicopter with Björk
Sexy Moo Deng and Sexy Frog both seem like fine ideas to me! And Sexy Tim Walz is just regular Tim Walz, which I think works for a certain kind of guy if he's willing to be really nice and memorize some car maintenance factoids.
In 2018, a faculty member I work with was doing a similar demo, having some symbols associated with digits. She asked us to memorize the relationship for, I don't know, 30 seconds. Then she gave us a series of those symbols, and asked us for the number.
I had a similar problem teaching a college language class-- the students largely had not learned how to memorize grammatical information, and that was a skill I had to devote energy to teaching them.
