i wasn't plugged into this at the time but a university having a MOOC task force sounds a lot like a meteor task force composed entirely of dinosaurs to me
the MOOC discourse was definitely an existential one, but I felt like that was such a particular application that I could see the nonsense. AI feels bigger; more comprehensive and wide-ranging.the MOOC discourse was definitely an existential one, but I felt like that was such a particular application that I could see the nonsense. Ok, tu m'expliqueras, à l'occasion. J'ai un MOOC à suivre "initiez vous à l'intelligence artificielle", mais difficile à trouver 4h de libre, pour l'instant, sur mon temps de travail.
I feel like there could have been better acronyms than "mooc..." or was that a subtle jab in AI's direction?
We'll meet in a secret location: code word is MOOC/OPM/SECONDLIFE

The prize money is decent (10k), we get plenty of submissions and a lot of participants in the associated MOOC (massive online open access course), but basically no press and I think there is very low public and critical recognition. I don't think there's been much focus on this in the past.
If you are interested to know more about this Nobel Prize in physics, Hinton had an online course (MOOC-type, at Coursera) some years ago that is available online: www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...www.umu.se/en/education... 😉
