Not clearing up the mess in your house/garage is all fun and games until one day you're like "I can save on delivery if I order mulch and wood at the same time" and then you end up having to stack a giant pile of lumber on your kitchen floor and your house smells aggressively of pine

Starting a new trend of apocalyptic gardening I'm calling "dystopiary". You mostly let nature do its thing... consume your house, mulch your corpse... it's very wholesome. You trim plants to be shaped like ominous warnings.

This morning, the tulip tree I've come to move in with 24 years ago has been cut down and will likely begin a new life as mulch elsewhere. Was actually a nice tree, bloomed each spring with beautiful tulips but was becoming invasive upon its massive roots towards my home.

As one does (I guess???), my husband practiced for retirement this morning by going to the hardware store…now…to…putter around. He wants to get some mulch and maybe some drill bits. This is gonna be so fuckin’ weird y’all

Definitely feels like things are being pushed down our throats before we have time to question what we’re swallowing. It’s fundamentally not the gratifying surprise of ‘what happens next’ storytelling but lowest common denominator pull a lever ‘give people what they think they want’ mulch
