Yes, it's Valentine's Day (!) and looking toward star cluster NGC 346 in our neighboring galaxy the Small Magellanic Cloud, astronomers have noted this heart-shaped cloud of hot, x-ray emitting gas in the cluster's central region. The false-color Chandra Observatory x-ray image also shows a strong

Which planet is this? Earth. The featured false color picture shows how the Earth shines in ultraviolet (UV) light. The image is historic because it was taken from the surface of the Moon by humanity's first lunar observatory. (Another is operating now.) Although very little UV light is transmitted

A false-color image of Earth in ultraviolet light, taken from the surface of the Moon by the first lunar observatory. The bright yellow area is Earth's sunlit side reflecting UV light. The red and green bands on the side facing away from the Sun are auroras caused by charged particles from the Sun.

#7. #EverybodysGoneToTheRapture. Okay, divisive opinion time: I love walking simulators. I could play them all day! But EGTTR is such a beautiful, tragic story of the end of the world. It makes me cry every time I play it, especially Jeremy's story. Storytelling at its finest. AND THAT MUSIC!!!

An image of an observatory under a sea of stars and light. There's a telescope in the foreground pointed towards the sky. Overlayed on the image is a picture of two people holding hands. The words "Everybody's Gone to the Rapture" are right beneath them.

The observatory was very cool, but I'm a sea-level kinda gal. Our regular elevation here is just under 3000 feet and climbing and descending another 7500 didn't feel great in the ol' noggin.
