One hill I will die on is that Blade II is capital-A Art. Fourth-ever feature by future Academy Award winner Guillermo del Toro, and it absolutely showed his artistic ambition through the lens of a gory comic book movie.

It must be Shocktober because I happened upon a shockingly titled book while perambulating past a local used bookshop's sidewalk rack: a French folklore/offbeat cultural history that "administers a necessary and unforgettable dose of culture shock"! Oh the kitties! 😱

A used hardcover book (1984) for $5 propped up against an old upholstered chair: "The Great Cat Massacre and Other Episodes in French Cultural History" by Robert Darnton. It shows an 18th-century engraving of a bunch of bewigged people wrangling with a kitty.

It was in such an offbeat box set for the time. I still enjoy that whole pack of figures. Werewolf by Night is my favorite of the four tho.

It's quirky and fun. In an offbeat way. Ah boo. Forgot to put a description of the photo. Book name: Service Model. Cover of the book is a robot carrying a teapot with an acid green background of a destroyed world behind it.

It’s October. That means it’s time to share my Halloween playlist again. Deep cuts, genre classics, Halloween staples, and offbeat songs that are all…frightfully…good. open.spotify.com/playlist/2lS...

My offbeat theory is that some day everyone will think Altman's own intelligence was "artificial" in some sense

Anybody out there have any offbeat recs for a Halloween playlist? I’m looking for vibes like Dead Man’s Party by Oingo Boingo and Pet Sematary by the Ramones
