By "grouping" I mean how roles like support rotation, goalie, oncall engineer often take on not just one of the above, but at least 2 pain point areas as part of their shift focus. It both makes a lot of sense. Also raises the question: how connected/separate are these?

When I was head of a residential school I was oncall every night- no extra pay and I often had to go back into work. That job was pure hell.

I don't do it anymore, I switched to a support role 2 years back. In my most recent role as a care home manager which was 2018/22 I worked usually 50/60 hours a week, nights too (paid for 37.5). Was nationally oncall for a full week every 6 weeks & I'd get calls from my own service constantly.
