There's not enough Pervitin in Mengele's medicine cabinet to keep that syphilitic orangutan going for another TEN days, never mind 25.

Agent Orange puts the PERV... in Pervitin.

For a lonnnnng time it was TARZAN THE APE MAN but something about GCDI beats husband-films-orangutan-molesting-wife-over-end-credits somehow. Maybe because Richard Harris was having fun, or the miles and Miles O'Keeffe.

I remember these. Also reminds me of the "Monkey Movies" TNT used to do, where apes acted out movie scenes. Horrible stuff (and those poor apes) but the Jaws one where an orangutan playing Quint did the dolls' eyes speech has lived with me for 20 years.

Suddenly flashing back to the knock-down, drag-out FB fight over this infographic, in which my paleoprimatology prof got told she should take a class in plylogenetics before sharing her opinion. 🤣

An infographic from Pettermint Narwhal showing how all apes are monkeys, but not all monkeys are apes. It features a drawing of a Sumatran Orangutan (Polgo abelii), with two checkboxes labelled monkey and ape, both checked. In contrast is a Popa Langur (Trachypithecus Popa), which only has the monkey box checked. Both are labelled as critically endangered.

In the centre are three concentric rings reading from largest to smallest: Primates, Simiiformes, then Ape.

At the bottom is the explanation; While "monkey" is not a scientific term, it is used commonly, and essentially can be argued that it is a synonym for the infraorder Simiiformes, which includes monkeys and apes.

Savages: A young girl rescues an orphaned orangutan and reconnects with her Indigenous heritage in this stopmotion animation, which is a bit of a disappointing follow-up from My Life as a Courgette director Claude Barras, that feels heavy-handed in its eco message despite the lovely visuals. #LFF

I really like Kamakura stuff, I just really wish it fit my orangutan-proportioned arms

For the Faceless ape from Pongo Labyrinth, It’s design was heavily based on an illustration by Heinrich Leutemann of a normal orangutan drawn back in the late 1800s.
