(5/?) For example, if you're, say, writing a trilogy, do you *really* need to bring your main characters to the front step of the main antagonist right away, when you could just show off a teeny hint that they exist? Does Ozma need to be shown in its full glory, or can you put it in the background?
(2/?) And Mhach, where FFXIV's take on Ozma has been locked away for eons, it's *everywhere* until you face it. It's in the distant background in Arachne Eve's swamplands. It looms over you as you face down Forgall. Slowly but surely, you make your way to its domain, knowing full well it's *there*.
Ngl, my absolute favorite dungeon in FFXIV is Mhach, and that's purely because of the way it tells a story. See, the next-to-last boss is Ozma, which if you know FF lore is a Big Deal. A true eldritch horror, capable of warping reality around itself. (🧵1/?)
Now that I’ve had a nap (Ozma let me nap!?).. we got the nets up for owl banding tomorrow and boy was that a bit of an ordeal, as the organizer didn’t know there was also a public event going on in the same area that blocked some roads and such. But hopefully tomorrow we catch some owls!
