This gorgeous flower only lasts a few hours. Known as silky purple flag (Patersonia sericea), it's endemic to eastern Australia. Took this photo earlier this arvo, so by now it will have faded.๐Ÿ’œ #FlowerReport#OzPlants#WildOz

Flowering at different rates (aren't we all?!). Broad-leaved drumstick (Isopogon anemonifolius), spotted on two separate sections of bush track last weekend. Native to eastern NSW. #ozplants#wildoz

Cluster of bright yellow stems encircling a single head in the early stages of flowering.
Same species but further along in the flowering process. Flower stems much further apart.

Always a happy sight, the first of the spring flannel flowers (Actinotus helianthi). The flowers are actually in the centre, and what surrounds them are petal-like bracts. A petal by any other name, etc! Just as lovely. Found mostly in coastal areas of NSW.๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒธ #FlowerReport#ozplants#wildoz

Lots of flowers, not all fully opened, on long stems. Each has 10 slender, velvety white 'petals' that are tipped with green. A tight cluster of the true flowers forms the centre.

Recently learnt that a shrub growing close to home exists nowhere else on earth! It's the Sublime Point pomaderris (Pomaderris adnata). Buds photo from early July; flowers this week. Brilliant work underway (info signs, seed banks, ex-situ plant-raising) to save it from extinction. #ozplants#wildoz

Clusters of small creamy yellow flowers & a few unopened buds on thin stems. Background: blurry gum trees & blue sky.
Clusters of brownish buds on short stems above long green leaves tinged with yellow.
