I just went against my principles and paid $3 to submit 5 poems to a rich, private school’s journal because I respect the poets who run the English dept there. If the undergrads staffing the journal don’t like my amazing poems, fuck them.

The truth is we don’t get paid for writing. We’d did that before we got paid and we’ll keep doing it after the money dries up. We get paid to suffer the casual judgement of strangers.
Agreed tbh, plus the girls to the front thing is sensible too. Only time I've ever stood at the front (as an adult) is when I saw Coheed & Cambria. I paid a shitload for the ticket, which included a secret set, then meet, greet and photo afterwards. Pretty easy being tall at gigs!
Try explaining to a client that the changes to their books that their tax accountant is demanding don’t make any sense and aren’t in alignment with GAAP, losing the battle, and three months later, explaining why their internal reporting is no longer useful. At least I got paid to undo the changes.
