In Dublin in 1921, the primary cause of death for 48-year-old spinster Mary Mangan was recorded as "menopause", which lasted for 8 days. Very much feeling this. #irishresearch

When blocking one footpath on a residential street isn't enough, get your mate to block the footpath opposite, to rule out any possibility of a safe route for wheelchair users, people using walking frames, parents pushing buggies.

Mount Pleasant Avenue, Dublin 6, with two grey jeeps, each one parked mostly on the footpath, one on each side of the road. There's a wheelbarrow on the footpath on the right side, and a builder operating a small concrete mixer in the garden of a terrace house.
Rosemount estate, Dublin 14 - small van branded 'Boyles Solid Fuels' parked with half the van width blocking about two thirds of the footpath width, and a wheely bin blocking the rest of the footpath.
Parkgate St, Dublin 8 - white Transit style van parked mostly on the footpath, with the outer wheels sitting in the cycle lane. The passenger door is open and someone is climbing into the van. There's a couple walking on the remaining part of the footpath.
Parkgate St, Dublin 8 - a small white Opel van branded 'Colin Burke Fire and Security Division' is parked entirely on the footpath

Some images from last night, with the Sturgeon Moon rising over Dublin city, as seen from Chesterfield Avenue in the Phoenix Park As a child this was my first glimpse of the city. Being from Cavan we always drove into the city via Phoenix Park. Little did I know the future that lay ahead of me here

The three photos in this post show the rising full moon, called the Sturgeon Moon, rising over Dublin city. The photos were taken from Chesterfield Avenue, looking south-east.

In the foreground is the road, sloping down towards Parkgate Street and the gates to the Phoenix Park: to the left and right are the dark silhouettes of trees. The moon is rising behind some notable Dublin landmarks, including the Guinness brewery, the former Guinness Windmill on Thomas Street, and the spires of St. Catherine’s and St. Patrick’s.

@jajo Japp.

Here is a part of that Anglo Welsh border today. The River Dee. The tides tempt a passage but are suicidal.
