TRIES TO FOIL YOUNG MERRYMAKERS, BUT DIES PONTIAC, Mich., Nov. 1.-Hurrying to get in his crop of cabbages before the Halloween celebrators had a chance at them, James Harshaw, aged 77, was stricken with heart failure last night, and died within 10 min- utes. He fell against some cabbages and was assisted into the house where death took him. Mr. Harshaw wrote his own obituary some time ago, and it was his request that it should be published. It is headed: "Another old settler gone," and a blank space was left for the date. The obituary states he was born in County Doon, Ireland, and that he came to America in 1848. He was a veteran printer. He is survived by a widow and daughter.
