Here in Germany new powerlines have to be buried due to NIMBYism, making them extremely expensive to build and maintain (sigh)

They neither want to get into PG&E's ass who caused a great number of wildfires in the last decade through letting powerlines just crumble NOR do they want to pay for sufficient trained firefighters. Prison slave labor it is. Then they can't even get actual firefighting jobs when they get out.

Amusingly and slightly mysteriously, there's a stretch just before Mulberry where the powerlines are underground or run through back yards, so that part is remaining untouched. At least there is one tunnel of leaves left to greet me on the way home :)
