In a lot of ways, Halloween is one of the few socially accepted periods throughout the year to be _hella_ queerpunk and revel in nonconformity, and folks across my social circles eat that shit UP, including me! It's an opportunity to be genuine and indulge in community for so many of us. <3
Iirc the etymology of it comes a long way through queer, particularly black queer and queerpunk culture all the way back to at least the early 70s
