Yellow Ratsnake - variant of the Eastern - comes by to pay us a visit this afternoon. One of the calmest snakes you'll encounter in the Southeast, as far as "bitey" is concerned. Stinky musk on you after capture is to be expected however. P. obsoleta quadrivittata. #herps#BackyardWildlife

Approximately 4' long snake, meandering through the grass. The snake has a yellowish-green head and body, with dark stripes running the length of the body.

No I didn't. I tried to look it up, it looks like a gray ratsnake but I'm not sure, snake is pretty small. If that's what it is, it's a good bean.

And while I’m here, it’s been a few months since I showed myself, so here’s me doing what I do, and some progress on my ongoing tattoo project involving Persian flora & fauna- a spider tailed horned viper to balance with my Persian ratsnake.

Me with headphones and knitted headband wearing a black metal inspired plant tshirt that says ‘anthurium’ on it, standing with my arm draped around the neck of a foam impala form that I was prepping for taxidermy. I’d already fixed the horns in place & set the eyes with clay.
Close shot of my freshly tattooed décolletage area showing a newly done spider tailed horned viper amongst my healed arm, shoulder, chest & neck tattoos.
A shit photo of the back of my shoulder taken at a shit angle with a shit phone camera, by myself… but it shows the spider tail & keeled scale detail in the back portion of the tattoo, and also just how shit the unfinished top section of my right sleeve is 😂

I walked 85 miles this week - my biggest week of the summer. Met this fearsome looking fellow along the way. Probably a North American Racer, but could've been an Eastern Ratsnake. This was at Blue Hill in Massachusetts.

On an unrelated note, it is apparently baby ratsnake season. So, here is today's nature friend is soooo good at hiding. It's like she's not even there.

A baby ratsnake sitting on a piece of sidewalk next to a wall. There is another wall perpendicular to the first with a little crack at the base. The ratsnake has stuffed its head in this crack and then just sat there as if it is invisible now.

I think every time I'm visited, I've always seen these two together and the ratsnake off in a different corner by themselves
