It was quite a bit of detective work to track down EMPIRE BUILDER and in fact this may only be a reproduction of some original typeface I have yet to find. It is lettering that was originally (?) used by Great Northern on a train called 'The Empire Builder'.

Yes, there are extreme problems with the design of this as a study. But even if it had been a well-designed study, "why do people respond to an original much more than to a reproduction" is something that Walter Benjamin wrote about and that everyone in art criticism has already read
