no you're right, power through a resistor P=V^2/R so smaller R means higher power
The board maxes out at 12 volts, and they're supposed use like a 2 kilo-ohm resistor. Was probably just old or slightly broken
yeah that's only 1.6W, that eeistor should be good to a couple watts I'm guessing? check the power rating but also might be a defective resistor
It turns out a 10 ohm resistor has trouble with 4 volts, which feels a bit weird
