I used to think those stories about Peter Thiel et al getting into seasteading and building some sort of micronation on a platform somewhere were incredibly stupid and goofy but I've come around to it, I think it'd fix a lot of problems if those guys all fucked off into the ocean

Back in the day Patri Friedman (yes those Friedmans, the intellectual crop that grows a little shorter every generation) had a LiveJournal, and he would periodically post stuff about his seasteading adventures. He posted a list with 'Step One: Learn about sailing' on it. I nearly died laughing.
