THE JOKER was about the simulacrum between Fleck and “the Joker”, using people’s projections onto that persona to empower him, despite him not ACTUALLY being/believing what they wanted. JOKER 2 furthers that conversation but I’m not seeing anyone engage with its postmodernism.

Tribute act or simulacrum? The tribute is a performance of the familiar, a nostalgia, but has this current iteration actual gone further and severed the historical links they purport to claim? Does a surface Toryish gloss hide a core that is fundamentally not partially reactionary and extreme?
