You seem to be quite disingenuously diminishing the extraordinary scale of the grift, cronyism, donor bought influence (ha! The Leaders’ Group) and sleaze within the last run of Tory Governments so I shall not debate with you further.

I honestly don't think it is and Labour shouldn't bow to the media, we let the Tories off the hook by allowing the media and the right and some on the left to equate this with 14 years of Tory sleaze, incompetence and cronysim.

I don't disagree. However, Labour must remember that the media are not fair, honest, or impartial. They will seize on the slightest whiff of impropriety while ignoring the most outrageous Tory sleaze. This kind of behaviour is such a colossal own-goal.

The causative reasons for their losses in 1992 and 2024 are (1) generally screwing the economy and (2)- sleaze.

It’s as if they have forgotten that those who serve them have to “get by” on their salaries - almost all considerably less than ministers - without all those perks and look smartly turned out too. It’s not comparable to Tory sleaze (but it is early days) AND much was openly declared…but still…

But that is different altogether from the monumental sleaze we saw from the Tories …wallpaper, requests for nannies, massive expensive food deliveries, holidays, grossly overpriced tax payer funded multi-million £ contract awards to mates and donors …

It’s just same shit different government and whilst the neoliberal policies are no better than what was promised, it’s still being delivered along with the same sleaze and greed

Europe is a pendulum. The far rights are articulate & populist. Therefore, it is credible to the less educated. But even the worst of them cover up their womanising & sleaze quite adeptly. Trump, however, seems to make a virtue of it!
