The lemon danish was flaky and crunchy and so very good. Also got spanikopita, not pictured. Will have for lunch.
Hot pepper spanikopita with tomato brown butter, corn and tomatillo at Sarma, Gilman Square, Somerville, MA, USA. @sarmarestaurant
Or the stuffed cabbage. Or the spanikopita and baklava. For real. Like when I lived there, my kids knew to hang onto the railing every time we saw a “food festival” sign bc they knew Mommy was hitting them brakes. 😂
I’m insanely jealous. Haven’t had spanikopita since my celiac diagnosis. My kingdom for a decent gluten free phyllo recipe
I made spanikopita once and it actually turned out pretty good, but it took HOURS of fussy prep. So, yeah, that's one to leave to the professionals.
I married a Greek. We had spanikopita this week. She would be proud, especially with that flaky filo on top. Well done. I make Haitian food trying to recapture what I've had in restaurants in Brooklyn and Atlanta. I understand that need to "make it taste like what I tasted."
I had leftover spanikopita for dinner!
My one attempt at spanikopita was delicious but not nearly this pretty
I’m going to a Greek Festival tomorrow Mmm, spanikopita
Serious Eats has a good recipe for a herb laden spanikopita which I find quite good. You might consider checking this out if you want to move in a different direction.
