What's a stereotype that fits you, and one that doesn’t? I'll start. I'm Spanish, so I’m loud and obsessed with garlic and olive oil. But I’m not outgoing, can’t dance flamenco, and deeply despise bullfighting.

Duolingo looks exactly like you'd expect an American, Anglophone language learning app to look if you think about for 30 seconds. Spanish and French pretty good, German ok, Italian and a smattering of "European heritage languages" iffy, and FSI category III and IV languages essentially unusable.

I know about this game! A Spanish reviewer talked about it on launch and that's how I found out. You did an amazing job with the art direction ^^

I used Duolingo to learn some Guarani (through Spanish) before going to Paraguay this year, and I found it best to look at the material for each section, write it all down, make sure I understood what it meant and how it worked, and then practise it in the sessions. Worked quite well that way.

I knew I shouldn't have come on this show. I don't know any Spanish, hate going outside in cities, and don't want to be here. This week is going to be miserable and the show from hell hasn't even started. I can't even work up the courage to get breakfast by myself, what the fuck am I doing here?

Monarch's aren't necessarily as authoritarian as all that. King Juan Carlos of Spain, for example... (Things got a little messy in later years, but it was a solid start).

Juan Carlos was expected to continue Franco's legacy, but instead introduced reforms to dismantle the Francoist regime and to begin the Spanish transition to democracy soon after his accession. This led to the approval of the Spanish Constitution of 1978 in a referendum which re-established a constitutional monarchy. In 1981, Juan Carlos played a major role in preventing a coup that attempted to revert to Francoist government in the King's name.

Good morning BlueSky people. I’ve had enough of the terrible French , Spanish and Portuguese weather so I’m heading home. In all the years I’ve be been holidaying in the region I’ve never seen it so unsettled. #crapweather
