Really feel like the sum of intersections could be a union if done a certain way.... also makes my brain hurt!

Oh yeah, there *exist* zero-sum exchanges, where A takes B's stuff, neither creating nor destroying Stuff in the process (Okay, typically those are *actually* negative-sum, but, conceptually) But that doesn't mean EVERYTHING is that way, there isn't a Conservation Of Utility Law 😅

thinking about it some more, the actual product you have is going to be the sum of all possible combinations of products a1, a2, a3..., but negative if there's an odd number of such terms and positive otherwise. So like 1 - a1 - a2 - a3 - a4 + a1a2 + a1a3 + a1a4 ... - a1a2a3 - ... and so on
