I mean, I get it, it's a desert, Lake Mead is a puddle now and can't deliver the water requirements, but it's just so... symbolic of how everything I knew as a child is dead now. I should stop being so nostalgic--most of my friends aren't--but I guess it's just my nature to be wistful about stuff.

The positions often only make sense if you believe there are zero viable levers of political influence available and that political actions are solely symbolic. I disagree, but rational. Insisting that one can ârejectâ a power-system into meeting your demands is what breaks my brain.
I think part of the reason it was an effective symbolic demand is precisely because it was so difficult to fulfill
