Heard it first on a tape travelling to Tarbert; gloriously sunny day, looking out the window of the bus at the west coast scenery. Perfect (circle) moment

@nytimes: In 1944, just weeks before his son was born, Staff Sgt. John A. Tarbert of the Air Force died after his plane was attacked while flying over Germany. But he was accounted for only this year.

I’ve been a couple of times Sheena, it just draws you back. I took ‘The Golden Road’ out of Tarbert on my way back to Leverburgh, and what a scenic cycle that was, fabulous route. Cycling over the mountains up to Tarbert was a different kettle of fish 😆

It was a good trip. Kenmare to Dingle to Tarbert to Doolin to Inis Mór to somewhere near Scarriff. 2001. IIRC I got home for the Ireland Holland game where we beat them with 10 men. I do need to go up and over Connor pass again though.

A picture of a cyclist in his twenties taken at the top of Connor Pass in Kerry. He is dressed in a black long sleeved cycling base layer with black cycling kits and baggy black off-road cycling shorts, and black cycling shoes. On his head is a dark red cycling helmet. He leans against a dark green mountain bike which is propped up against a low stone wall. A single rear pannier is attached to the bike’s rear luggage rack. Behind him the land slopes down to the Atlantic Sea.

Don’t know it, although last time I was down that way I wasn’t that far from it - cycled from dingle to tarbert via the Connor pass and Tralee.
