How, pray tell, would "having fewer possessions" protect one from hurricanes/tornadoes/earthquakes?

Safe ? No . North will see more wet snow & ice storms with hard freeze right behind. South will get heat domes West more fires East more hurricanes Middle more tornadoes Everybody is gonna get monsoon rain events at the wrong time. And the WIND !!! hootin & tootin bigger than normal

It's not just flood insurance. It's ALL natural disaster insurance. Congress needs to make ONE program to reasonably cover floods, fires, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. Stop letting it be handled by private insurers who have a profit motive.

Oddly enough, we feel like our corner of the Kansas City metro has been very safe from natural disasters in the 17 years we've been here. No tornadoes, no flooding, small hail a few times, no fires. Extremely reliable electric service. Drought is our only problem.

Exactly- many people still don’t understand that climate change is happening right now. Heat waves , massive fires, floods, hurricanes, cyclones, tornadoes… What part of the future is here don’t you understand???

Here’s a horrific question: if they privatize weather forecasting, will they be able to manipulate the categorization of hurricanes, tornadoes, etc in order to prevent paying out disaster insurance? It’s already happening in FL & CA.

Sometimes I get bored and chase tornadoes. 😅 I mean what else is there to do in this state? A tornado. On film :p Also that's a mobile NOAA Doppler Radar in the front.
