In their townsquare analogy, they essentially signed up to be the big dude that would throw out the shitty person getting on everyone's nerves. If MAGA rhetoric wants to be heard then maybe its existence shouldn't threaten so many.
Their entire problem is that they view censorship as them banning violent accounts and not that the violent accounts are censoring others with violence. There's no "townsquare of discussion" if people can't talk without a death threat.
elon should have stuck to the man on mars memes he been hyping forever with spaceX instead of trying to run the "internet townsquare" or so he puts it the only thing thar came so far is the community feed thing correcting false info and news
I'm not okay. I'm just not. Not right now. l I am actually physically aching from how much is happening that happened to me and mine in the "townsquare" that has brought profit to others and hell to me and constantly needing to do more
And in all that, doesn't address her opening question of why social media shouldn't be cozy. Even if you think racism is an okay price to pay for a contradictory townsquare. that's irrelevant to why social media shouldn't be cozy.
Then concludes that it's 'ironic' that the townsquare idea guy is what led to the splintering, when it was well signposted the townsquare thing was bunkum, because she wrote a whole article on that and links to it in the piece!
I think she was referring to the ideal twitter townsquare utopia, not twitter twitter 🤷♀️ At least, that’s how I read it.
I think a bit of the recent thing, is that the main type of person who really does want or need a public townsquare of ideas or whatever, is columnists / feature writers whose job is getting paid for essentially making political arguments.
