“I was there at the diner. I saw him get taken into the back. And I didn’t stop him, nor did I tell dad about it. I wish I could’ve… but I didn’t. And now it’s all my fault that they’re all gone. Dad, mom, Brody… all of this wouldn’t have happened if I had just intervened.

The memories of that day kept rewinding in my head, almost like I’m cursed to remembering them for eternity. I keep hearing voices in my head too, two of which are familiar to me. My mom… and my brother. They whisper to my ears, saying they’re still here with me, yet I could barely see them.

And dad… he’s here too, but he doesn’t look like himself at all. I always see him in my dreams, standing in the distance with blacked out eyes as he watches me relive the horrible memories of that day, smiling like he knows that I deserved this for not telling him about Brody. I don’t know what to do anymore.

Every night, I keep telling myself in my head that everything was all just a bad dream and that nothing horrible happened. I wished it was a long nightmare I’m having at the hospital at the time of that accident. But, I’m starting to think I’ve lost my way after experiencing these events. I don’t know if life is even worth it at this point.

Jackson, if you’re reading this, I’m truly sorry I was unable to take care of you when you needed me. I’m a terrible brother, and I don’t deserve to be your brother after everything that has happened. Tell your son I said hello and I hope he doesn’t go through the same pain I felt all these years ago. Maybe sleep would help me clear my mind. But if it doesn’t, then… I’m sorry.”
