See, spring isn’t done with its celebration. For so many in India the harvest festival is their New Year - Puthandu, Vishu, Boishakh, Baisakhi, Gudi Padwa/ Ugadi. Pachadi, parippu curry, rasam, sambhar, Aviyal, pickles, payasam & of course, rice with a generous dollop of ghee served on a banana leaf

I like how you spelled "Ugadi" the way it is pronounced, which is "Yug-adi". A lot of us non-kannadigas don't get it. I lived in Bangalore for more than a decade but I confess I got it wrong too.
