I had to go look it up, & realized 2 things, base registration is cheaper than I remembered & they charge me 3 other charges related to it being an EV. 2 for the weight and 1 for transportation electrification. If I lived <10 miles to the west, I would have to pay a 1.1% transit tax.

Neighbour pulled up in his Volvo diesel. Clouds of smoke/steam coming out of the exhaust, bonnet up, hands on faith healing (failed), bonnet down, engine off, walked away. There's a puddle of something forming underneath the radiator now which is also not a good sign. My money is on head gasket.
