Spot illustrations from Dial Soap ads, 1956 - by Winnie Fitch. Besides the great main characters in full color, I also love the smaller background characters done in (deceptively) simple black line. #wardsmorguefile

Two illustrations from a Dial Soap ad series, with two men stylized with large heads, but looking stylish in their nice, clean clothes, each covered in suds, signifying the cleaning powers of Dial. The man on the left is a doctor, reading from a clipboard and two nurses are admiring him (both are drawn in simple lines). On the right, the man is cooking out, with gloves, and "CHEF" on his smock. In the background, two women are admiring either his grilling abilities or that he's just a clean guy. Very 1950s.
This one features two illustrations from the same Dial Soap ad series, but with two women instead of men, stylized with large heads, looking stylish in their nice, clean clothes, each covered in suds, also signifying the cleaning powers of Dial. The woman on the right is bowling and her two friends (a man and a woman) are admiring her cleanliness on the lanes. The woman on the right is dressed in red and is on the bus, reading a paper and is being admired by two men in the background. All the characters in the back are drawn in simple lines, while the foreground characters are illustrated in nice, bright color. Very 1950s.

Here's the full cover, not cropped. Even this is nicely designed. #wardsmorguefile

Disney animator/director Ward Kimball drew this for Turk Murphy's Jazz Band - most likely during the early-50s. #wardsmorguefile

Illustration of a wild & crazy jazz band in two colors, black and red (with white background) drawn in a stylized way reminiscent of the midcentury era, most notably around 1950 and similar to the UPA style.
