Love this so far! Best part, other than the glorious ✨SPREDGES ✨ is SPOILER (character name and job) Bobbie the Bobbie. The puns are top tier so far

The front cover of A Pirate’s Life for Tea by Rebecca Thorne. The cover is blue with gold letting, gold rope design around the border with anchors at each bottom corner, a dragon in the top left, and whatever is under the top right is under a black Waterstones sticker which reads Waterstones signed exclusive edition. A skull and cross bones sits at the top, there is also a tall ship and a pair of cutlasses
A picture showing the sprayed edges. Blue background with golden teacups and anchors

Managed to find The Wilding by @ianmcdonald.bsky.social while in Glasgow Waterstones - Ian is an auto-buy for me, so I know nothing about it, other than it was under crime. Also picked up the 2nd of 5 in the Definitive Nemesis the Warlock collections from 2000AD. 💙📚

New novel by Ian McDonald - The Wilding - a big house, beneath trees, with lots of autumnal/fire colours round the dark parts. And the 2nd in the Definitive series of Nemesis the Warlock collections from 2000AD - cover shows dapper, devilish alien, dressed in a suit, with a cane, and zeppelin hovering above industrial plant in background, colour tones similar to novel, orange and fiery.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions! This was the easiest to retrieve during a smash and grab raid on my local Waterstones, but will definitely check out some of the others. Bluesky hive-mind exceeded expectations.

Everyone seems to be selling out of WITHERED HILL online. Independent bookshops are your best bet, or Waterstones shops. The Wordery is on their “last few” for online delivery. wordery.com/withered-hil...

Withered Hill by David Barnett (Paperback)
Withered Hill by David Barnett (Paperback)

Sophie finds herself trapped in an isolated Lancashire village. But is it the inhabitants, drenched in folklorish traditions, who keep her prisoner, or something more sinister lurking in the woods... ...

I think it's a Stonies you work at? They've been in my town decades and are a true blessing. I still remember, aged ten, my teacher telling me her ideal job (not needing to deal with "living" concerns) would be in Waterstones. Just around books all day. That teacher also introduced me to Pratchett.
