Also, oh Lord the amount of time I spent tuning parnew/CMS on ~Webscale~ nodes... G1 was easier to set and forget at least. I think there's an even newer one since that but I've been out of the distsys game for 4 years now.
This is brilliant and true. And you should know that librarian fought this—at least some of us did. We knew the databases were turning into shit, we knew ‘webscale’ systems were worse. We fought like hell. And we lost. It breaks my heart. But this was foreseen.
