“Kim Mcbreen was adopted into a Pākehā family and grew up at the opposite end of the country from her marae. Like many Māori who’ve been disconnected from their whānau and whakapapa, she’s been trying to reconnect.” #kikorangi

Beautiful - great to see Whakapapa with so much snow
Very true. I was reminded of that when I was looking at this history for a thread. It's something we need to be reminded of. I have both Māori and pakeha ancestry here in NZ, so all the women in 1893 I whakapapa to could vote. It's important we realise that right was not given to all women here.

Stop fucking with ecosystems you have no idea about. Listen to Indigenous people and their whakapapa and stories.
Ummm, wow. “Because bats feed on crop pests, their disappearance led to a surge in pesticide use. Research found a rise in infant mortality in areas where the bats had been wiped out.”

1News did a good job of it & centred their week's programmes on the Tangihanga. And they anchored it all, & reported it all with women, 3, Te Reo-fluent, Wahine Maori, a Pakeha who tries & Isobel Prasad who may also whakapapa?? No WONDER the haters are out, EVERYTHING grinds their gears
