Good to see Tories now demanding impact assessments on govt policy. Yet another example of their raging hypocrisy and the gross negligence of their time in office. Remember this everyone? Let’s take huge risks with our national wellbeing without doing *any* due diligence.
Remember that the honourable member misled Parliament when he said the impact statements were being prepared.
Oh yes.
I don’t think they do irony.I was watching some unknown Tory wittering on about the impact of withdrawing the winter allowance for poor pensioners and having to chose between heating and eating .Umm thousands of families have been forced to make these unbearable sacrifices for years under Tory rule.
Brexit was the greatest failure of Government. The potential for job losses, loss of trade, inflation etc were so obvious to anyone that didn't buy into the Farage lie. It was the RESPONSIBILITY of Parliament to do the risk assessment and then vote, but they passed it to an uninformed electorate.
Not quite correct. Remember Operation Yellowhammer which predicted to a "T" what would happen after Brexit. Gove, of course, and posh idiot JRM, did not like bad news brought by experts, so sought to rubbish it, ably aided by the genii at the Mail and Express.
Aye. They weren't keen on publishing (or in Truss's case, even asking for) any official assessments of any of their policies. But this was entirely to be expected. After all, snakes do have forked tongues.
300.000 came to early deaths due to austerity. Did they have that on their impact assessment?
Brings to mind the dishwasher stacking analogy… Tories now expect Labour to do things with the care and precision of a Scandinavian architect but when they were in power it was like the country was being governed by raccoons on crystal meth.
