How is the word “liberal” defined by this author? It seems more appropriate to use the term “neoliberal”. Then, each sentence with “liberal” (or its other forms) would make sense. The Democratic Party is far more neoliberal than liberal or left, yet we must choose them for harm reduction ATM.
