Still getting the odd spam comment on my blogs, often for irrelevant things like plumbing, garden supplies, "Data training" and the occasional witchdoctor, and I always think to myself... does this random approach work? Do people really approach you because you left a random comment on a music blog?

A website of mine was literally inundated with spam comments until I shut down the comments altogether.

It's data harvesting, nothing more or less. I closed down all the comments boxes on my blogs because of trolls but a few spammers did also work their way into those before I put the drawbridge up.

I mean, if I was after a plumber, I'd probably ask about a reliable one on a local community forum rather than check comments on a psychedelic 60s blog. But perhaps that's just me.
