To those talking about how "We don't need cops after a disaster"- there have been 5 murders surrounding the Asheville area at this point related to resource-related conflicts. Someone stormed into an open Wal-Mart with a pistol and machete with intent to loot.

I have seen some very weird takes on this that don’t seem to have sourcing so I assume it’s just people plugging their favorite issue into the current crisis.

The machete-storming, for context, happened in *Sylva*, which is like a 2/5 compared to Asheville's 5/5, so we aren't talking about a lone guy walking into an empty building, we're talking about a guy storming into a place packed with shoppers and shooting off into the air.

Who would you prefer to handle that situation? The US military? The police? Or random citizens with guns? I'm sorry, you don't get to actually order off of the menu for this one, that's all the people who can actually deal with that.
