I've thought about writing Kindaichi fic in English, but I can't get over what the characters would call each other. The thought of Kindaichi or Miyuki calling Akechi just "Akechi" instead of 明智さん is...unbearable lol And Akechi calling Miyuki "Nanase" instead of 七瀬さん(or君) is WEIRD AF. Just no.

The brain is incredible when it comes to language. Even though I'm most comfortable with English, b/c Kindaichi fanworks are mostly in Japanese, my thoughts about the series often slip into that language even if my proficiency is...er, questionable. But the only way forward is practice!

Someone on NicoNico ages ago said that they thought TOKIO's 宙船 fits Akechi and Kobayashi's relationship (from 明智警部の事件簿) really well. I agree hahaha Ok, Akechi wouldn't talk like this so maybe it's Kobayashi POV. But he wouldn't talk like this to Akechi either so... Um, it's the vibes that count.
