Wednesday 02/10/2024. #MorningDogWalkFeatured tawny owls calling across windswept valley fields, a horse and rider wearing lights while trotting down the trail, a heron's unlovely croaking call from hidden roadside pond, and a dressing-gowned man smoking cigarettes in an upstairs balcony door.
The porch project is almost done, but the builder needs to come back tomorrow and fill some bits around the exterior, as today's weather wasn't dry enough. Very pleased with the results so far; it's not cold, it's bright and clean (the walls now really show they need painting!), it's secure [ā¦]
The toughened glass windows are being installed as I speak. The porch is looking very new and spiffy, and means the rest of the house is looking a bit shabby by comparison. Ah well. *shrugs*

Today is my husband's birthday. It's the 31st birthday of his that we've celebrated together. Crikey. Happy birthday @GypsumFantastic!

I have just ordered a new pair of walking boots because my current, and over a year old pair, are wearing at the sole and also need some stitching repairing. Iāll take them to the cobbler for that, and they'll make a good spare pair for another year or so. The new ones will be the winter boots [ā¦]
Flu and Covid vaccinations booked. Got to look after myself and hopefully avoid being laid low by either of those things this winter.
Seeing all the storm-related photos from the USA has put the lack of windows in the porch until tomorrow into very clear context. I wasn't complaining before and shall certainly not complain now. I can only hope that those USA folk affected can get back on their feet as soon, and as fully, as [ā¦]
The window issue is outside the builderās control as the units are fabricated elsewhere, and itās actually not a big deal. Just feels odd to have rain wafting into the porch, but Iām always up for new experiences!
