CS is unusual in how strongly it segregates scholarship by subfield — unlike many fields, there’s no venue that publishes top work in all subfields. Plus, interdisciplinary CS isn’t viewed as a subfield at all, but is about 17% of CS faculty (more than HCI): cacm.acm.org/research/sub...
Political science is traditionally strongly organized into a few discrete subfields. Ecology has a large number of overlapping subfields and people typically identify with any handful of them simultaneously.
