I'm not a fan of popular "inpainting" which requires manually defining to alter specific image areas. It's time-consuming and often introduces minor inconsistencies, demanding hours to ensure cohesion.

The challenge lies in deciding what aspects to "carry over" from the input to the output image, such as color retention. Striking a balance feels more like art than science.

Using ControlNet with Stable Diffusion, I used your input image first transform into lineart version to maintain the composition. Then provide specific prompts (like "dog") to guide the model, producing the desired image output. It is really powerful and flexible. Whole process takes me 1 minute.
