This is Bailey Hall Bank in Halifax, which, complete with cast iron handrail and polished cobblestones, splits off from Bailey Hall Road and launches a preposterous full frontal attack on Beacon Hill before losing interest and petering out. .....

..... When I took this photo some 45 years ago, the hill still had a kind of post-industrial nakedness. The trees, however, were about to reclaim it.
