1) I am fairly convinced that President Biden was in a place in his life path that staying the course would have been the wrong thing. Bowing to reality is not and ought not be cast as a failure of tactics. That’s alternative facts territory.

2) I am not at all convinced that a change for the future narrative isn’t welcome in what has been a slog of a rerun election. I don’t know what the Democratic kingmaking is going to look like, but I find the gnashing of teeth over losing incumbent advantage wonkish and unconvincing.
