I may be wrong about this, but it feels to me like anyone publicly announcing themselves as a stoic is already kind of not practicing stoicism.

I mean I have a friend who helps moderate a stoicism discord and has published a philosophical paper about stoicism. He doesn’t lead with “I’m a stoic.”

I get you might say, ‘ I practice stoicism’ or ‘I apply stoic values to my life,’ but ‘I am a stoic’ does sound like ‘I am Groot.’
