Do heat pumps work in rural areas?
Rural areas already form the backbone of Britain’s heat pump sector, and that is an opportunity we should build on, not walk away from.
To date, 80% of all the heat pumps installed in Britain are concentrated in the ~15% of homes that are off the gas grid - mostly in rural areas. That's why Britain's heat pump map looks like this - with rural areas from Cornwall to the Highlands leading the way
