The VAT on school fees is only a short (& imv sensible) delay (maybe to summer term?) because HMRC are never going to be able to register all schools in time. Plus need to see the rules & and provide full guidance. Also some advice will need to be taken by schools & can't do it if no rules yet.
Is reviewing the same as scrapping? Genuinely asking cos I thought Reeves was very hot on reviews and so on
This is disingenuous and misses the big picture, which is that by freezing your granny to death they don't need to do the other stuff. Forensic.
Labour’s first few months steadily descending into a farce or at least looking as though it is.
The headline here is incredibly unhelpful but the gist is that VAT on private school fees is going ahead but at the start of the next school year rather than the next calendar year (fair enough, imo) www.theguardian.com/education/20...
Confusion over 1 January start date as unions, tax experts and school leaders say it is unworkable
Alex Wickham says
In addition to being liars they have absolutely no clue wtf they are doing
Reviewed! And the problem with this is? We know that she has asked all Departments to review their extended. This is just another non story.
I will reserve judgment until the actual budget is announced, so much speculation in the press as they’ve been used to scandals every 24hrs and want to continue reporting like that. The treasury needs more money let’s see where it comes from first
They should review the idea not to raise Income Tax.
